My Sweet Weeping Willow

My weeping willow lady

Full of such grace

Toes planted in water

Hair dancing in breeze.

The bluebirds rejoicing

At what God has planted

And rest poetic

In your steadiest branches

I watch the cool water

Slowly drink you in

Like lavender whiskey,

Like juniper gin.

I stand in the shadows–

A lovestruck botanist,

Researching your secrets

From a dangerous distance

My senses are stirred into

A diminished resistance.
